Roof Hatches can replace existing fixed skylights for access to the roof for maintenance or for use as an emergency escape.

CUSTOM SIZES AVAILABLE.

The 2 x 8 (minimum) wood curb, which in this case is used as the sash, must be fastened firmly with screws and squared-up on the roof with straight sides. Use only good lumber. EXACT FRAMING IS VERY IMPORTANT.

The curb should be clear of other obstructions, minimum 2" around the perimeter.

The top surface of the curb should be covered with cap flashing. "J" beaded drywall should be fitted ¾" below top of the curb. The two(2) lower lift mounting blocks (3" x 3") must be positioned in the same location across one another approximately 12" from the header. (This will avoid unnecessary twisting.) The given location measurements of the blocks are only a guide-line and can be modified to change fully open position. DO NOT increase total swing angle over 80º. Damage to the hinges may result.

Due to wind forces applied when hatch is left open, care must be taken in every step, to ensure lasting performance.
